JLS Housing Center
JLS Headquarters: Secure Housing for Women Activists and Jailhouse Lawyers Reintegrating into Society
The JLS Housing Center is driven by a meaningful mission: to provide a peaceful and constructive sanctuary for formerly incarcerated women activists and political prisoners upon their release. Our goal is to serve as a beneficial transitional step for those reentering society, focusing on transforming their lives through a range of resources and training opportunities.
Our commitment to making a difference begins with offering an extensive array of resources. We help individuals in acquiring essential records, ensuring they possess the critical documentation needed for their life after prison. We also aid in reestablishing connections with community groups, allowing activists to continue their important work. Beyond this, we provide assistance in developing professional resumes and portfolios, enabling our residents to effectively present their skills and experiences.
Our dedication to transformative change is more than just providing resources. We understand the value of comprehensive personal development. This is reflected in our training programs that cover various facets of well-being. Our physical training sessions offer self-defense techniques, boosting residents' confidence and ability to protect themselves. Our mental stamina training focuses on cultivating mindfulness and mental health, fostering a sense of inner peace and resilience. Additionally, our nutritional training imparts knowledge on how to use affordable and accessible food to enhance both physical and mental well-being. At the JLS Housing Center, we aim to foster an environment that not only supports but also inspires activists and political prisoners, encouraging them to approach their newfound freedom with purpose and optimism. We endeavor to be a driving force for positive change and a source of hope for those rebuilding their lives post-incarceration.
Within the walls of the prison industrial slave complex, an extraordinary group of people can be found: advocates for human rights, spiritual mentors, abolitionists, and Jailhouse Lawyers. These people hold the potential to profoundly impact our communities and positively transform our nation. It's imperative that we offer them unwavering support to ensure they don't fall back into a cycle of struggling for essentials like housing, food, clothing, and healthcare after their release.
